OBD II Standardized Hardware may Simplify Diagnostics Reduce Costs

New automobile models beginning with 1994 lines will feature a standard diagnostic indicator called the on-board diagnostic regulations. The standard indicator allows the use of an inexpensive scan tool for determining information on a vehicle’s emission control and other computer systems. The development was preceded by a law which mandated the standardization of automotive driveability and emissions terminology. Thus, technicians will have easier access to automobile inspection.
